Title: President George Bush - Mr. Mean & Vindictive?
-
-
RAIN
-
At a recent White House meeting for incoming Senators,
Congressmen & women, President cornered one of them
in a side hallway and asked, "How's your boy?" Meaning,
how's your son doing in Iraq – Bush's domain as the head
decider – the Commander-in-Chief of all things war, etc...
-
To which the Senator replied, "Bring them home..." with a
respective close of, "...Mr. President." Which apparently is
something Mr. Bush didn't want to hear. Meaning bring all
the troops home – now. So, while all of this is quaint & big
news for "big news" reporters – we here see it as only more
evidence that Mr. Compassionate Conservative is just – Mr.
Mean and Vindictive. When it comes to others personal and
private matters. In particular, if a family member is serving
in a Bush imposed combat zone. Bar-none. Why expect any
public official, who has not served – to conduct themselves
otherwise, especially this President? So in a sense, Bush got
maybe his first view of American reality when he tried to be
a wise-ass with a former combat-decorated Vietnam veteran.
-
-
IRAQ
-
Recent rumblings in the news, indicate that the John McCain
method of losing a war if not more lives, may be at a point of
implementation. McCain, is the Republican Senator from AZ,
and is campaigning for the GOP's '08 presidential nomination.
His theory, about Iraq, is all we need is more troops sent there.
Interesting similarity to Vietnam's era, where McCain himself,
spent many years in a North Vietnamese prison camp. History
repeats only for those, whom the lessons of the past are never
learned. In this case, Sen. McCain, and his merry band of war
lords. After all it won't be any of Senator McCain's kids in the
line of fire. Certainly none of from this administration's either.
-
LAST STAND
-
It now appears quite certain that the military is planning to add
another 25,000 troops to the Iraq conflict. An apparent attempt
to make a "last stand" in taking back control of Iraq's Baghdad
city territory. Possibly to take more direct & aggressive action
against those groups now deemed as attacking all others in that
region. With reports now likely being leaked by this W.H. that
reflects this administration's inability to deal with that regional
conflict, the difficulties with different warring religious groups,
it likewise appears that any increase in troops will only result in
much more death & destruction, both for US troops, and Iraqi's.
Thus, leaving the entire country in a much worse condition than
if we had completely pulled-out, yesterday. Which we should do
today. Then the Iraqi general population could wake up and thus
realize where exactly, blame should be placed for civilian deaths.
To which leaders & toward which groups. Now, not being totally
without a means of self-defense, granted meager in some areas, it
would still be more likely, than not, that the Iraqi people could do
what 140,000 American troops have thus far been unable to moot,
the seemly never ending, and increasing, Iraqi death & destruction.
Not to over shadow, senseless waste of American troops & money.
Along with dozens of news journalist - and countless civilian lives.

Title: Iraq question, only one-way out, via oil shipments
-
-
RAIN
-
The President hit on the question of oil resources during
one of his post-election, get-to-know-the-new-Congress,
press conferences. During that Presidential punch & joke
question and questionable-comment period, the President
noted that it would be a mistake to leave the Iraqi oil field
reserves unguarded by Americans. Adding that, terrorists
would be free to seize-control, and thus, use then against
the free world. So now, it appears, that Bush's war plan is
no longer about building a democracy, but instead, about
protecting Iraq's oil-reserves. What many predicted was a
primary reason in the run-up to the start of this war, or the
primary reason for going in the first place. Why else glean
as much false-intel and fast-track the whole war operation?
-
With no active Generals complaining, and why should they?
-
The Department of Defense, along with the Pentagon, have
both died and gone to the federal version of, budget-heaven.
-
To the tune of billions & billions of dollars for defense staff,
projects and military funding. Why would they want to give
that up for a peace-time pay-scale of just millions of dollars?
-
After all the present military budget certainly isn't getting any
additional pressures for overspending on troop equipment and
for the training, or equipping, of Iraqi security forces. Just the
opposite in-fact. But, billions more keep falling into that dark
black-hole called US defense. Less for veterans. Even less for
domestic programs for the poor and homeless. Here & abroad.
-
Have a Happy Thanksgiving Mr. President. I can't wait till the
ghost-of-Christmas past drops by the White House. Respectful
in all of it's glory mind you. God Bless each & every one of us.

The State of Virginia: one-step-up, two-steps back

Title: The State of Virginia: one-step-up, two-steps back
-
-
RAIN
-
It is with great interest, to note, that the now infamous state
of Virginia took one-step-up for politics, but two-steps back
in support of individual equal rights, part of our Constitution.
-
While the November 7-th election may have signaled a new
direction in the nation's Congressional leadership, states still
managed to pass amendments, that limit an individuals right
to enter into one type of civil partnership. After all, marriage
is a business of sorts, or a contract between two people. It is
also a legal safe-haven for many types of spousal abuse and
questionable treatment of children. But, by God – traditional
states – along with the morally and righteously angry voters,
tacked onto their state constitution a decreed that was doom
in itself – during the historical period of this country – 1864.
-
Yes folks – that period where states were not united, and all
that weren't just watching – were at war. Brother vs. brother.
-
Our United States Constitution is a beloved document, sealed
with the blood of our forefathers – as well as our foremothers.
-
Our greater-grandparents if you will. If not, our leaders & our
founders. While many mistakes were made – many have been
repaid. While others still sit – waiting to be paid. Nonetheless,
the important role that women played from that first-step until
that first vote – women were only allowed to watch, no voting
rights until an amendment came along, granting such privilege.
-
Despite all citizens being created as equal. Today, like then, we
still hear that the Bible preaches that some, are more equal, than
others. Which I understand to be their principle of conservatism.
-
Likewise, at this time, it is interesting to note that our incoming
Speaker of the House, proposed the olive-branch of debate toward
our President – in order to bridge, some of the nation's differences.
-
Which brings us to this point, with all due respect, Ms. Speaker, if
bona fide debate were possible with this individual President, Iraq
would not be the primary issue of our day. Debating a bush, is not
unlike debating a door. While a door will open, if unlocked, a bush
will never move. Instead, it will only die and wilt from lack of rain.
-
In closing, no church is lawfully mandated to so-called "marry" any
particular individuals. Likewise, most, if not all, of those states that
went along with the conservative "anti" amendments, likely already
had laws that prohibited, as well as, regulated "same sex marriages."
-
All of which and at the end of the day – was conservatives hell-bent
on weakening our Constitution & dividing these United States. Not
unlike those during the pre-Civil War period of the late 1800's. That
is, I surmise, why a Hollywood-type cowboy could ride into the state
of Virginia, wave around a Confederate flag, a rope and slogans, and
thus become a successfully conservative politician of commonwealth.
-
The term "commonwealth" is an enduring term brought over by some
of our colonial fore-fathers & fore-mothers. Understood by – founders
to have been born out-of a peasant rebellion where a king lost his head.
-
Interesting enough, as it still appears interesting, that king was George.
-
So with that said, or blogged, Democracy worked, no blood was shred.
-
Now ye peasant of commonwealth rescues the name, re: Patrick Henry.
-
-
Sidebar: It appears that even during colonial-times Virginia was divided
by a difference of citizen opinion. That tradition continues even today in
the results of the recent Senate election. However – during the Civil War
period – Va., became physically divided which resulted in West Virginia.
-
"On the 17th of April, 1861, the people of Virginia, in general
convention assembled, adopted an ordinance by which it was
intended to withdraw [-] Virginia from the union of the states.
From this action a considerable portion of the people of Virginia
dissented, and organized a separate government which was known
and recognized [----] by the government of the United States as the
('restored state of Virginia,') and will be hereafter referred to in this
bill as the ('restored state.') Re: United States Supreme Court case,
re: "Commonwealth of Virginia vs. State of West Virginia" (1907)
-
Generally, Va., believed W.Va., owed pre-war road-bond monies
and thus legislated a bill – which ended up as another state battle.
-
Presently, the western part of Virginia shares many of the same
mountain ranges & economic conditions, as well as, the weather
with the southern parts of West Virginia. While northern areas in
Virginia have a coastal climate, with flatlands between. Some of
the blue-voters of northern Va., may enjoy visiting their ancestral
roots in southwestern Virginia. Many trailed west through S. W.,
on their way to the California coast. Some stopped, others stayed.

Title: Is Bush looking to hide blame for his Iraq policy?
-
-
RAIN
-
With only two-full years left in his Presidency, G. Bush
appears to be looking for a person, place – or election to
lay blame for his entire Iraq war policy. Which is quite a
lot to shovel. With the recent negative comments by the
neo-conservative architects of Bush's plan, then the drop
kick of Secretary of Defense, Rumsfeld, it would appear
that Bush's heard their criticism of his Iraq war execution
and is doing some fast pedaling. In order to offset failures
that will clearly be deemed historical and blights on Bush
foreign policy decisions. Yes, the great-decider, may now
be in hyper-drive to become, the great-shredder of records.
-
Enter – Ollie North. Since it likewise appears that Bush Jr.
only has presidential history as far back as 'dear-old-dad it
might be something relevant to see how long it takes Ollie
to enter the picture. Through a visit to the White House, or
a call from Mr. President himself to North's Fox news line.
-
After all the election's hurricane like fall-out, conservative
talking heads are now jabbering willy-nilly about jumping
off the Bush fire-wagon. Further the demise of Geo. Allen
in his recent senatorial re-election bid, spells doom for the
neo-conservative movement of the Republican party in '08.
-
Leaving the fate of the GOP, squarely in the hands of hand
wringer – Senator John McCain (R) Arizona, who has not
been untouched, politically, by Bush's handling of Iraq war
decisions – if not engineering. With McCain being pro-war.
-
ALAMO
-
If you survive the battle itself, it may be the pause that gets
you in the aftermath. Bush's Iraq plan has now placed great
strain on our economy, if not our future. Our next generations
as well. Bush's war plan – it appears – intended, in part, to put
such a priority on U.S. treasury funds, that entitlement funding
would be left to whither on the vine. Social Security Retirement
& Medicare – being the first two victims of any GOP cash flow
re-allocations – followed by Social Security Disability benefits.
-
In the US Supreme Court decision of 2002, "Commissioner v.
Walton" – Bush's appointed Commissioner of Social Security
argued successfully to that court that the administration's case
was saving Social Security $80 billion over a ten-year period.
Which meant in reality or layman's terms, was denying or thus
preventing disability payments to qualified applicants to a tune
of $80 billion dollars. Passing, instead, the cost on to state and
local governments. Not unlike Bush's 'no-child-left-behind' act.
-
Making Bush's Iraq war machine – powered by burning dollars.
This folks appears to be Bush & Rove's use for Clinton surplus.
Meaning if it's tied-up in a corporate military-industrial budget
that's too-complex to understand, ie., oversight, Sen. Warner-R
Virginia, then it's easier to deny federal-aid to the masses or for
any hurricane disaster prevention. Less to poverty, education or
any handicapped, disabled, and incapacitated individual citizens.
-
Making the concept of compassionate conservatism just a "con."

Poetic Justice: Virginia Republicans want re-count

Title: Poetic Justice: Virginia Republicans want re-count
-
[Note – this article was written early in the afternoon &
it was projected & announced at 8:45 pm that Allen lost]
-
RAIN
-
What a paradoxical political state we live in today – Just
six years ago – Democrats wanted all the votes, counted
in Florida, but the Republicans went to court, in order to
stop any re-count. Now that incumbent Senator Allen (R)
Virginia – is on his political deathbed – the Republicans
in his campaign are screaming slogans like, "count all the
votes." My, how time makes the heart grow fonder. Allen
re-elect worker, Frank Donatelli, advises Allen to "afford
yourself all of the remedies of Virginia law." Why not, he
nor his party will pay for most of it. Va. taxpayers will pay
the extended election bill. Besides Allen's Senate loss was
not the closest. Montana was decided by a smaller margin.
-
But, don't tell George Felix Allen that. He's suddenly got a
new dose of re-count religion, if not the conservative blues.
-
You know the tune, "I hurts so bad...I can't spell glad ...oh...I
hurts so bad...nobody loves me, but my mama, & sometimes
I think she's jiving me too...now I've got 'dem 'ole re-election
commonwealth blues...boo-hoo-hoo-hoo ...where's foot-ball?"
-
"Oh well, I can't dance & my legs are thin..." Maybe now we
will learn the "secret" to re-counting electronically cast votes.
-
Virginia Republicans are quick & fast to remind the national
crowd – the whole world's watching – and news media crew,
that this is practically a routine in the Commonwealth. With a
recent election for Governor going to a Democrat, but a GOP
Attorney General candidate edging out the "dem" by just 350.
-
Go figure – and the Democratic candidate for attorney general
did just that – figuring that something was rotten in Denmark,
with regards to GOP vote counts. Not a surprise, though, when
a Virginia judge only allowed a very "selective" re-count to go
ahead. Meaning that not all voter precincts were allowed to be
re-counted – with many just re-canvassed and not "re-counted."
-
That's just one of the "remedies" afforded to the Senator-elect
Webb's side of the victory – under contradictory Virginia law.
-
But then Geo. Allen knows full well, about all the paradoxes
of Virginia laws. Having been, one of the great "deciders" of
revised Virginia law, during his tenure as the Commonwealth
of Virginia – Governor. More like the Mel Brooks character
in "Blazing Saddles" – played by Brooks himself, the "GOV."
-
Who quipped, "Give them ...these paddles...in lieu of pay...".
-
To which we now present to loser Allen, here's your paddle.
-
Congratulations to Senator-elect James "Jim" Webb – amen.

Why the cornerstone of Democracy is the right to vote

-
Title: "Why the cornerstone of Democracy is the right to vote"
-
-
RAIN
-
Tuesday is truly "D" day in America. Yes there are those that
would conservatively remind of that historical day in June '45.
-
Rightfully so – D – for Democracy, and unfortunately also, 'd
for the many that died then – defending our Democracy. Now
the Republicans would have you believe - that only "they" can
defend us. Meaning defending, "Democracy." That is – not so.
-
Instead, the majority of those conservative Republican pundits
have never defended this country – in any way, shape or form.
-
Instead they have chosen, having the freedom to do so, of just
protecting themselves, their taxpayer funded jobs, and all their
big-moneyed corporate friends & partisan political party mates.
-
You see that's the beauty of – Democracy – it protects all of us.
-
Even those that would do it – and others – harm. Just to remain
in a position of power, or control. Just take a few moments and
watch the news returns during this Tuesday's election. It's going
to be a disgusting display of greed, corruption and manipulation
of voters – and of votes. It's already started in states where they
vote early, or in situations where absentee voting has been used.
-
It has been my opinion, since the U.S. Supreme Court decision
of 2000, that Republicans cannot win an election without, first,
suppressing voters, and then causing confusion in the counting
of the votes that were cast. We all witnessed it in Ohio in 2004.
-
Why else would you have computerized voting machines, with
software that nobody is allowed to see, check, or verify? Only,
one reason comes to mind. That type of process benefits 1- side
more than it does the other. If so – then that makes it criminal in
nature – and criminal in it's intent. A premeditated vote counting
crime. Where's the Department of Justice, or our GOP appointed
Attorney General? Sitting on the sidelines, that's where. Not on
the side of law & order, as they would have you now believe. I
cannot envision where standing around at a polling station with
a donut in one hand. and a cup of coffee in the other, protects a
single vote. Do you actually think, or believe, that the integrity
of any process can be fair if there is nothing to check the votes
against? That's like allowing the bank to add & subtract from a
checking account just on an ATM system, without any receipt,
and just on their "word." Yes sir-re , I've got some ocean-front
property for sale in Arizona – if you want a big load of manure.
-
Protecting Democracy means protecting each & every vote first
and each & every individual citizens right to cast a private ballot.
-
Any other method is not Democracy, and certainly not American.
-
Vote this Tuesday, for this country – protect voter freedoms first.
-
Remember a veteran's name on the way to the voting booth. Vote
the bums out that take any troops into war, under a false premise
and for self-preservation, and would scare others by political fear.
-
If you think we need four more years of war, thousands more dead
or injured – add another $300 billion in cost, then vote Republican.
-
Then when they come for you – you can rest assured, that I didn't.

Why we can't afford another – GOP majority Congress

Title: Why we can't afford another – GOP majority Congress
-
-
RAIN
-
Today is the Friday before election Tuesday. In our view, it's
a defining moment in American political history – if not U.S.
direction. It has finally become obvious to a majority of us all
that the Bush administration has mislead and thus misdirected
this country from the first moment of stepping into office. All
decisions or the so-called Bush agenda, have benefited nary a
middle-class worker – either male or female, and have instead
enriched the already bloated bank accounts of the corporations
and many Republican lobbyist friends. Not to mention majority
party members themselves. Fortunately – many are now in jail,
with many more pending similar fates. Corruption has abound
in the majority controlled Republican Congress. Do we need a
change in leadership? I would vote so. Because I think & pray
so – as an Independent voter – not necessarily as a Democratic
party member. So in my way of thinking, the only way to slow
the Grand Old Party's unlimited corruption and war machine, is
to vote for each and every Democratic candidate on the ballet in
this Tuesday's election, November 7-th, 2006. A day in history.
-
-
FOG
-
Two concerns about the upcoming vote, as well as, the voting
tabulation. My view is the Republicans cannot win a majority
of either the House or the Senate, if all the voters that show up
are allowed to rightfully vote – and importantly – all the votes
that are cast – are counted. In particular, those states that have
a predictably close race – and a major use of electronic voting
machines. As we have all witnessed since the election of 2000,
any election confusion, has benefited the Republican candidate.
-
As such, it should be no surprise, when on Tuesday night, some
election results will linger with vote counting or count confusion.
-
It can be no other than the Karl Rove method, or his election plan.
-
Voter fraud, or vote tampering should be a serious criminal crime
and thus there should be paper evidence to imprison those that do
it. This reasoning makes it clear why Republicans oppose elections
where your vote is counted as you wished it to be, and as you cast
it on election day. This election is a start to take back our country
from the political cronyism of the past six-years of the Republican
mindset of no-oversight, no-spending restraints and incompetence
as majority management. Time to just say "no" to "Republicans" in
either the House of Representatives or in control of the U.S. Senate.
-
Please – only you can make a change – get out and vote – Nov. 7-th.
-
Attention all voters. It could be a good day to part Bush's red state(s).
-
-
WAR
-
A last minute side note to the military crew in Iraq that appears to

think that Senator John Kerry (D) Mass., was joking about the troops
instead of President Bush. Here's what they printed-out on a large news
banner:
-
"HALP US JON CARRY – WE R STUC[K] HEAR N IRAK"
-
To which we reply, "HIF U KALL W – KALL M – KOLECT"
-
Besides, with the Pentagon now reviewing all blogs out of Iraq -- you all
might want to save that banner, and start looking for a bottle big enough
to put it in – for an emergency. After all, this President doesn't think any
of you people need to come home before, at least, 2008. Don Rumsfeld's
of likewise – mindset. Plus he's thinks troops should stay until the job is
done – apparently – if that means some of you doing 10-tours. Even if a
total victory happens this Tuesday (i.e., Dems win both House & Senate)
Senator Kerry would be unlikely able to convince this President to bring
any troops home in 2007. Sorry, if you wanted to fly home sooner. Start
flapping your arms – now. If not – get up tomorrow – flatten - the whole
damn place. Then declare the mission accomplished--- then head west....

the RAIN in Spain, falls mainly on the plain...
-
All the Republicans have gotten their copies of Rove's new
spin-script. Slogans like, "it's the second 9-11" blare out of
every news channel. Unabated, and by appearance - at will.
-
It's so lock-set, it's almost comical, if it all wasn't so serious.
-
Vice President Cheney claims, he didn't know anything till
after - his phone call to defeated Joe Liberman. Interesting,
his boss – George Bush – knew on Sunday. Recalling - VP
didn't know anything about the CIA leak either - which we
now know he talked to Libby after, talking with the decider
in a meeting that, essentially, set the leak mission in motion.
-
O, pray-tell, the turtle's fallen in the well. Send those Dems
straight to news-hell. It's the rapture of another Republican's
election. The mud, the dirt, the lies. The fear - arrests - more
people go to jail. Heaven forbid if it were some poor GOPer,
then Arnold, would have to nuke the poor bastard free in his
Hollywood fashion - or now neo-director government duties.
-
Yes sir-re-maim, Hollywood's advising the WH on terrorism.
-
-
9-11 was caused by an event in 1776...
-
White House spin-reader, Tony Snow, read out-loud, the Bush
administration's neo-conservative Republican view that events
of September 11, 2001 - happened because of those lax, 1990's.
-
Appearing to throw Bush's father - under the wheels of history.
-
However, the flash - in all of it's bloggy splendor, realized that
what Snow's message really implied – that 9-11 was caused by
an event in 1776. (neo-conservative code) By the signing of the
Declaration of Independence ending the first King George's rein.
-
Now that we're looking at the possible curtailment of a new king
George's (boy George) extraordinary methods, now events come
into play. Some will say, the American way. Others, just politics.
-
Either way – at present – because of untended majority rule – all
the weeds in Congress have over-grown the "garden of freedom"
and now threaten to blight out all flowers of reason - democracy.
-
Bringing us to the present point. Grounded: buy Wall Street stock
in liquids and gels. (and buy new airline tickets on Saudi airways)
-
Their new Arabic corporate slogan could be, "when ditched, fly as
the rich do, unabated, as with, complimentary soaps & shampoos."
-
-
SAY it ain't so Joe...Leave-her-man...
-
Now that the dust has settled in Connecticut, the votes counted and
Karl Rove and the Vice President have given Joe a shoulder to fund
with – where does Liberman go from here? Joe's now running to his
Republican side poll under the misleading banner of an independent.
-
With all the RNC boys and girls now pandering to Joe as a true JFK
type politician – not to mention Harry Truman. Well, after all Harry
did drop the big-one and vaporized thousands of civilians. So what's
next on the new Liberman agenda – nuking Iran? Imagine W., Dick,
and Joe standing for a photo-op as the mushroom cloud - rises in the
background of a Fox news broadcast, cleverly placed behind them in
the Oval Office. Possible before the 2008 elections. Liberman could
even replace VP Cheney as he retires early – due to health problems.
-
-
WELCOMING the new corporate Joe "Leverman"...
-
Just think of the corporate retail-sales increase that will occur in the
next few weeks, if not months. Tons of liquids & gels trashed in the
quest for security. Sounds like dollars & sense to me. I owe you and
all that Department of Homeland Security gibberish. After all - Wall
Street was this administration's priority just days after Sept. 11, 2001.
That is – after President Bush was ordained, "Commander-in-Chief."
Now the commander has decided, not unlike another Joe McCarthy,
that instead of a "red-under-every-bed," there's now a "terrorist-too."
-
After-all it's the corporations that fund RNC & now corporate types
will see an increase in the bottom-line for liquids and gel sales. Also
in their stock dividends. Bush always seeds back - in kind - what his
party requires for the next election's fundraising, which is in process.
-
As airline stock value drops, big-oil rises back-up, just in time for the
October fund raising push. Bush could always rescue a failing airline
industry with a Putin-type move and nationalize the industry. A move
under the guise of national security. Keeping those airlines - flying in
the face of danger, no matter what. Right? Fascism meets Stalin under
the bridge maybe Karl knows? Examples of corporate liquid products:
-
Unilever – Trumbull, CT
-
Procter & Gamble – Cincinnati, OH
-
Greenbrier International, Inc. – Chesapeake, VA
-
S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc. – Racine, WI
-
Gillette Commercial Operations – Boston, MA
-
GlaxoSmithKline – Moon Township, PA
-
Colgate – Palmolive Co. – New York, NY
-
RM (Manufacturer) – Tel Aviv. Israel
-
The Dial Corporation – Scottsdale, AZ
-
-
Corporate retail-sales increases will likely occur in the next few weeks
if not months. Tons of liquids & gels got trashed in that quest for plane
security. Maybe, but do we really know? However, recent news reports
have been indicating some "Iraqi-type" problems with PM Blair's case,
concerning those arrests. One person has already been released - Some
did not even have passports – a requirement to board an overseas flight.

-
